Just a Thought

I have been wanting to share my thoughts and observations on paper for family and friends and whoever wants to read it for quite some time. There is really nothing new I am saying because I'm acutely aware that whatever I am saying or thinking has been done. Especially in the arts. When we look at old artists or today's art, they always reflect the time, and always speak to what is going on in our time. Or listen to the music, and the messages. In the olden days, it was the ballads. And music always changed over time, but always reflected the era they were composed in. So my observations. And points of view, while nothing new, I do like to chime in. It must be a sign of our times, with the endless podcasts, YouTube and all the social media that we have desire to voice our own opinion. This is truly nothing bad, however, can also obscure the realities of what is going on. There is an overload on messages. Being sent out by individuals. They are called influencers. However, I almost like to call them herders. Any time we follow someone's idea, and then the idea takes off by itself and the influence so great that they impact society, we become a herd, and we are no longer individuals.

Of course, what does it actually mean to be an individual? Our life philosophies start with the training at home, with our parents and grandparents, how we grow up, and what kind of a setting, social setting. We are born into. And it is very difficult to transition as we get older. From one group to another. Especially, for those born, into the lower social setting. But I am getting ahead of myself, and will address the subject in a future 5 cents-episode. So please stay tuned.
